School Youth Horsemanship Class
8 week class, $99
This program is designed for children
ages 8 and up. Students will learn new
skills and explore the many different
aspects of horsemanship through hands-on
activities and games. Subjects covered
will include; horse health, safety on
the ground and in saddle, horse senses,
understanding equine behavior, tack
and horse anatomy and training techniques.
We also study one “Featured Breed”
each class and have “barn time”
each week feeding the horses. A
$25 deposit required by December 20th.
Class size is limited so please register
early.

Exploration
of Soft Eyes, Breathing, Balance and
Centering, along with Grounding &
Awareness, will be explored and practiced
in this seminar. Through various interactive
exercises participants will gain an
understanding of how and why these
basics have such a positive effect

the rider will also improve their
own sense of comfort, confidence and
balance.

Pen Workshop, 1-4 pm; $65
Learn
the basic steps and/or get help improving
your technique in this 3 hour "hands-on"
workshop. Round pen training helps
build a partnership based on mutual
trust & respect. In this workshop
participants will learn how to improve
their communication skills by becoming
more mindful of their own body language,
practice recognizing the slightest
"try", rewarding it and
become the "Passive Leader"
their horses deserve. The workshop
will begin with a demonstration, allow
time for practice without the horse
and finish up with each participant
working in the pen with a horse. Bring
your own horse or learn from one of
ours. This workshop is limited to
6 participants, plus auditors. The
cost to participate is $65 and to
audit is $25. Enrollment is on a first
come, first serve basis. Please register

This
3-day clinic will be split into two
sessions. Participants can attend
both sessions or choose morning or
afternoon only. Auditing is available
for those who may want to watch and
learn from either session.
The mornings are designed for those
who have young, green or problem horses
who need to be started or restarted.
The main focus will be on ground work
-- building trust, confidence and
control. First ride will be an option
for those whose horses are ready.
This is generally a four day clinic,
therefore, there will time available
on the forth day for those who are
interested. Due to the nature of this
clinic there is a maximum of 10 horses
accepted. The cost of this 3-day clinic
is $425.00 with an early bird rate
of $375.00 if the $200 deposit is
received by March 1st, 2008. Auditors,
$25.
The afternoon clinic sessions are
for those who have participated in
at least one of Jon's prior clinics
and are ready to move into more under-saddle
horsemanship. This focus would be
more on gaining control of each quarter
-- transitions, softening, collection,
etc. We will accept 15 participants
for this clinic. The cost is $350
with an early bird rate of $300 if
the $150 deposit is received by March
1st. Auditors,
$25.

The
Montana Ranch Experience
Jon Ensign and Heidi Potter collaborate
to offer this exciting clinic which
will be held near Bozeman Montana.
We have put together some ideas to
make this opportunity available to
any horse enthusiasts who are interested
in experiencing ranch life in Montana.
This week will include: learning how
to rope and then getting to practice
on the real deal, cow sorting, a scenic
trail ride to a lake for lunch and
back-approx 12 miles round trip, horse
roundups, some cattle work, a day
trip (non-horseback) into Yellowstone
and an afternoon of shopping in Bozeman.
There is an option to camp (no electricity
or running water) at the facility
for free or to get a room in nearby
Belgrade (10 minutes away) or Bozeman
(20 minutes away). Participants can
bring their own tack (under 50lbs)
on the plane or Jon can lease tack
from a nearby ranch. Some meals will
be included and you will be on your
own for some. There may be a charge
to lease horses for times when we
are all riding together, ie; trail
ride. The cost is $700 for the week
with an early bird rate of $600 if
the $300 deposit is received by April
15th. A total of 12 participants will
be accepted for this trip. it will
be filled on a first come, first served
basis. There is the option to pay
by credit card for this clinic, using

Riding Multi-Discipline Open Clinic
at Maple Ridge Stable
Take
the time to develop an improved sense
of softness and harmony with your
horse by learning the basics of Centered
Riding. These clinics are open to
riders of all disciplines and levels.
Participants will explore and develop
an understanding of the basics of
CR with ground work in the morning
and application under saddle in the
afternoon. This clinic will help riders
achieve better balance, ride more
comfortably and confidently, and improve
communication with their horses. This
clinic is limited to 12 participants,
with horses and stabling available
on a first come, first serve basis.
Please reserve your spot early. A
$100 deposit is required. The clinic
cost is $300 with an early bird price
of $250 if deposit and registration
are received by June 15th. Auditors
are encouraged and welcomed for $35
per day.

Horsemanship Clinic 9-12:00
The focus of this clinic will be to
improve the relationship with your
horse on the ground, creating a more
safe and willing partner. We will
be working on respectful leading,
getting softness, flagging for confidence,
and controlling all four hooves. This
type of work serves as a great foundation
for a young or green horse, as well
as improving your overall work under
saddle. Limited to 15 participants.

Training Sessions
Jon is available for private and semi-private
sessions in the afternoon of Sept
14 at the Putney School and at Maple
Ridge Stable and abroad from Monday,
September 15- Thursday Sept. 18.
These
sessions can be tailor made to whatever
the horse owner wants. This can be
under saddle work or ground work.
Jon has spent a lifetime of training
colts and riding horses. This is a
great opportunity to get his help
with some common problems i.e; trailer
loading, spookiness, moving off while
being mounted or just developing an
improved sense of feel and getting
softness in the bridle.
The
cost is $75 (private) or $60 (semi-private)
for sessions in Putney on Sept 14
or at Maple Ridge Stable. Cost of
sessions at your place is $85/$70
within a 1/2 hour of Mapel Ridge Stable.

Stable
Beginner Trail Clinic:
mornings, 9-12:30. This clinic is
for riders who are comfortable at
the walk and jog and for horses who
are young, new to traveling or could
use desensitizing work. Participating
horses must be performing well at
the walk and jog under saddle. We
will work on building confidence first
in the ring and then move out into
work in the surrounding hills, meadows
and trails.
Advanced
Horsemanship & Trail Clinic:
afternoons, 1:30-5:00. This clinic
is designed for riders & horses
who want more challenging trail work
and want to work more at the jog and
lope. Most of this session will be
done out of the ring and on nearby
trails.
The
cost for each clinic is $350 with
an early bird rate of $300 if the
$150 deposit is received by July 15th.
